Salt causes millions of deaths every year. Failure to follow policies increases the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other problems, WHO director. Medical experts have identified the excess of salt in food as the cause of millions of deaths worldwide every year. 50% increase in heart attack cases, what are the reasons? The World Health Organization has said in its latest report that salt is an important nutrient for every human body, but its excessive consumption increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, heart attack, and premature death by making people prone to high blood pressure. About 2 million deaths worldwide are caused by coronary artery disease each year.
According to the WHO, each person worldwide consumes an
average of 10.8 grams of salt per day, which is more than twice the amount
recommended by the World Health Organization. Hoy has said that measures need
to be taken for this otherwise millions of people will have to face
life-threatening diseases like heart attack and stroke which are easily
preventable.
The new variant of
Corona is not a cause for concern, WHO
According to the report, in 2013, a target of a 30% reduction
in salt consumption worldwide was set by 2025, but achieving this target does
not seem possible, as only 5% of the 194 member countries have reduced salt
consumption. Countries that have implemented comprehensive policies to reduce
emissions include Brazil, Chile, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Malaysia,
Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Spain, and Uruguay.
The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr.
Tedros Adhanom, said that the consumption of unhealthy foods is a major cause of
death worldwide and the high amount of salt in our diet plays an important role
in this regard, according to the latest report. Failure to follow the policies
has increased people's risk of heart attacks, strokes, and other medical
problems.
