Malnutrition has become a dangerous situation for pregnant women. A 25% increase in malnutrition was recorded among Asian and African women. In many countries in Asia and Africa, a 25% increase in malnutrition among pregnant women has been recorded, with a high proportion of adolescent girls. According to the AP report, report issued by the United Nations subsidiary UNICEF on International Women's Day states that pregnant women in 12 countries, including 10 countries in Africa and one country in the Middle East and South Asia, are suffering from severe malnutrition. Not only pregnant women but also nursing mothers of thousands of children are suffering from severe malnutrition and overall the number of children who look younger than their age, weak, and sick has increased to more than 50 million.

The report stated
that a UNICEF survey conducted in Burkina Faso, Chad, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali,
Nigeria, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Yemen, and Afghanistan showed that
malnutrition among pregnant women in the mentioned countries is dangerous. has
done, due to which record increase in pre-natal, maternal and post-natal
deaths of children was seen in the above-mentioned countries, the number of
women suffering from food shortage in the above-mentioned countries by 2020 is

become serious in all the above-mentioned countries.
The report emphasizes the provision of vegetables including
flour, rice, and cooking oil to pregnant and lactating women in all the
countries mentioned, as women in many countries do not have access to essential
nutrients, including Africa and South Asia. The countries have been identified
as the epicenter of malnutrition among pregnant and lactating women and it has
been reported that not only older but also adolescent pregnant girls are
severely malnourished in most of the countries in these regions.

According to the report UNICEF, due to lack of food in
mothers, children become victims of various diseases inside the mother's womb
and their chances of being born with low weight, short height, and other
diseases increase.
